The Future Starts Now: enter 2025

Nearly all planets change signs in 2025, symbolizing a completely new era for humanity.

The year 2025 is set to be the most dramatic year in recent memory. That says a lot, considering 2020 is still fresh in everyone’s minds. This applies both at societal and personal levels. However, it’s important to remember that everyone experienced 2020 differently on a personal level—there are some who even found it to be a great year.

The same is true for this year. Those who have already made bold changes or are open to them will find this year exciting and perhaps even meaningful. If we are ready for new challenges and willing to leave the past behind, this could be an excellent year. But often, people prefer to stay in uncomfortable situations rather than embrace change. On the other hand, those who have suffered greatly tend to welcome change, as anything can feel better than being completely stuck. This year, though, we won’t be given much choice. If we haven’t made bold or necessary changes by now, time is up—changes will now come, whether we want them or not.

I wrote my first blog in 2019 when astrologers were well aware of how significant 2020 would be. The planetary gathering in Capricorn was a historical event, ensuring that we would witness something dramatic—and we did. The year 2024 served as a kind of checkpoint for the changes that began in 2020. For example, we now know that remote work is possible, that developing a vaccine can take mere months, and that pollution can be drastically reduced —all achieved at astonishing speeds. At the same time, we’ve learned that, despite our ability to connect more easily than ever before, we are paradoxically lonelier than ever.

Now, we are stepping into a completely new beginning for humanity. The year 2025 is a milestone, marking a new era from 2025 to 2033. The first couple of years, especially 2025–2026, will introduce changes, events, and twists at a speed rarely seen in human history. This is both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Similar periods in history include the United States’ Declaration of Independence, the Civil War, entering in World War II, and the French Revolution. These were challenging, yet pivotal times that ultimately led to positive changes. For example, the first groundbreaking technological and medical advancements will likely begin to surface in the news this year, gradually reshaping the world so profoundly that it will be unrecognizable within 20 years.

Why 2025 is so special

All outer planets (the so-called societal planets: Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter) will change signs. Additionally, all inner planets (personal planets: Venus, Mars, and Mercury) will go retrograde, and solar and lunar eclipses will shift signsall in the same year. This simultaneous shift of so many planetary signs is exceptionally rare (even rarer than in 2020) and symbolizes unique and intense times.

The intensity is particularly evident in the 29th degree (the final degree of a sign) and the 0–1st degrees of the next sign, which are the most dramatic in astrology. All outer planets will be moving between these degrees throughout the year. The final degree encapsulates all the lessons learned so far, while entering a new sign at 0-1 degrees introduces new themes, usually in a dramatic fashion.

For instance, it was fascinating to see an increase in UFO and drone-related news as soon as Pluto permanently entered Aquarius in late November. Regardless of what these phenomena turn out to be, the idea of life on other planets has now entered public discourse and is becoming widely accepted—a concept that would have been publicly laughed at just a decade ago.

Gradual introduction to a new era

While we won’t be thrown into a completely new age all at once, we’ll start to see glimpses of it during the spring and summer. In the fall, planets will retrograde back into their previous signs, giving us a chance to catch our breath and wrap up unfinished business.

By 2026, all outer planets will have transitioned into new signs for extended periods. However, there’s no doubt that the changes will begin this year, often unfolding with surprising speed. March and April will be particularly dramatic, with the first lunar eclipse in Virgo and a final solar eclipse in Aries.

2025 Bad News in Brief

Spring 2025 will be an especially intense time, particularly regarding wars and conflicts. Historically, Uranus transitioning into Gemini has often predicted major conflicts involving the United States, which can significantly impact the rest of the world. Meanwhile, Neptune in Aries (March 30, 2025) has been associated with major events in Russia.

On a personal level, Aries, Virgos, and Pisces will experience this spring as particularly dramatic, as eclipses often bring about significant beginnings and endings. These can, however, also indicate fortunate and necessary changes.

2025 Good News in Brief

Although the eclipses of 2023–2024 brought challenging symbolism and marked difficult global conflicts (which indeed occurred), they did not spiral completely out of control. There’s hope that while things appear intense, they don't necessarily lead to disastrous outcomes.

One particularly positive piece of news is that Jupiter moves into Cancer on July 7, 2025, where it remains for a year, offering optimism, goodwill, and good fortune. In Cancer, Jupiter brings positivity particularly in matters of emotions, home, and family.

Outer planets will also form mostly harmonious aspects with each other, symbolizing that they “communicate” and support one another. This suggests that the changes introduced this year are long-term, and purposeful. Success, whether positive or negative, seems achievable in our efforts.

January 2025

The new year began with a new moon in Capricorn on New Year’s Eve, marking a dramatic yet ambitious start.

An intense opposition between Mars and Pluto peaked on January 3, though Mars often triggers events a week in advance, as we’ve already seen in the news. On the same day, Venus entered Pisces (until February 4), symbolizing romance, tenderness, and compassion in relationships, especially romantic ones. However, new and old connections during January and February may appear better than they truly are, as Venus will retrograde in the spring. By March and April, we’ll gain clarity about who or what we are truly dealing with.

If that weren’t enough, Mars moves back into Cancer on January 6, reigniting the frustrations we experienced last September and October, particularly regarding home and family matters.

The symbolism of the new moon encourages us to leave the past behind. Old societal and personal structures, attitudes, and setups no longer work. There is no going back; the path behind us has closed, and the future is yet to take clear shape. At this point, the echoes of 2020’s message seem to reach us five years later: humanity tends to cooperate only under pressure. Yet 2020 also showed us that anything is possible if we change our attitudes and work together.

Key Astrological Highlights for 2025

  • Major Planetary Shifts:

    • Pluto entered Aquarius: November 19, 2024 (will stay in Aquarius for nearly 20 years)

    • Neptune enters Aries: March 30, 2025 (will stay in Aries for nearly 14 years)

    • Saturn enters Aries: May 24, 2025 (will stay in Aries for nearly 3 years)

    • Jupiter enters Cancer: June 9, 2025 (will stay in Cancer for over a year)

    • Uranus enters Gemini: July 7, 2025 (will stay in Gemini for nearly 7 years)

  • What does all of the above mean?

These changes are so significant that I will address them separately in upcoming blog posts.

  • Solar and Lunar Eclipses in 2025:

    • Lunar Nodes (where solar and lunar eclipses occur) move into Pisces/Virgo on January 11, 2025 (staying in these signs for about 1.5 years).

    • Lunar Eclipse (Virgo): March 14, 2025 (23 degrees Virgo).

    • Solar Eclipse (Aries): March 29, 2025 (final solar eclipse in Aries at 9 degrees).

    • Lunar Eclipse (Pisces): September 7, 2025 (15 degrees Pisces).

    • Solar Eclipse (Virgo): September 21, 2025 (29 degrees Virgo).

What this means: Eclipses often predict fated, surprising changes. Over the next couple of years, these eclipses will particularly affect Virgos and Pisces. For Aries, the end of March may bring a dramatic conclusion. During eclipse periods, it’s wise to keep your schedule light, allowing time to process and adapt to unexpected life twists.

    Mars Retrograde

  • In Cancer: January 6, 2024 – February 23, 2025

  • What this means: Expect delays, frustration, and repressed anger related to events from September and October 2024. With Mars (representing willpower and our primal energy) opposing Pluto (January 3 and April 26), there may be situations where progress feels impossible. If it feels like you’re hitting a wall, it’s better to wait until late April 2025 before trying again.

    Venus Retrograde

  • First in Aries, then in Pisces: March 2 – April 13, 2025

  • What this means: Expect diplomatic conflicts and misunderstandings, especially in relationships and financial matters. Old issues may resurface, and new infatuations from early winter may reveal their true nature. Additionally, ex-partners may reappear unexpectedly, but this doesn’t necessarily mean things will work out better this time around.

    Mercury Retrograde

    • March 15 – April 7, 2025

    • July 18 – August 11, 2025

    • November 9 – November 29, 2025

  • What this means: When Mercury turns retrograde (especially at the beginning and the end of a retrograde period) avoid purchasing electronic devices, such as new appliances or computers, especially at the start of a Mercury retrograde. Back up your computer and avoid starting new projects or signing contracts (unless they’re tied to past connections). On the other hand, opportunities or job offers from old contacts can be favorable, and signing agreements under these circumstances is a positive sign.

These retrogrades and eclipses symbolize turning points, closures, and significant endings and new beginnings. While the changes may be overwhelming at times, they are also opportunities and potential for necessary transformation and growth.

2025 in Short

January through February are intense but mostly frustrating due to Mars retrograde. March and April are very intense. The end of May through June looks favorable. The summer is a mixed bag. By the fall, the planets retrograde again and we get a chance to finish up things that started in 2024.

What’s certain is that by this time next year, a new world will have been presented to us, and we will have a clearer picture and direction in life.

Namaste,

Ursula
