The Astrology of March 2025: Chaos and Drama

Writer's picture: Ursula @LunardakiniUrsula @Lunardakini

The Astrology of March 2025 is a time of drastic changes and communication chaos.

Venus and Mercury Retrograde, Eclipses Begin, and Neptune Moves into Aries

Astrological skies are sometimes more symbolic, and other times quite concrete. Many modern astrologers don’t often speak of negative things at all, instead focusing on providing only positive or psychological predictions. I personally try to walk the golden middle path because I believe astrology’s purpose is to offer omens for the future and equip us with knowledge so that we can at least prepare ourselves mentally. Sometimes, for example, we avoid making major mistakes if we are aware that the energies are disruptive right now for everyone, not just for ourselves. We can’t say that 2025 has started positively by any measure, and unfortunately, the changes we’re seeing have mostly been tangible, aggressive changes without diplomatic solutions.

I already mentioned in the yearly forecast how dramatic this year and next year will be, and how astrologers have predicted this year for years. The reason is that all the planets are changing signs, which is incredibly rare. 2025 has already proven to live up to its reputation, and anyone can see that the world is changing in many ways, but especially politically, it is flipping completely, at an unprecedented pace.

When will things calm down? We won’t get a clear break until the end of May, and even then, we’ll only have a reprieve until the end of June. Things will quiet down a bit in the fall though, once the outer planets retrograde the last time.

The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Virgo and Solar Eclipse in Aries

The full moon and lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 14, 2025, will kick off this year’s eclipse series, and especially Virgos and Pisces will face new beginnings and endings. This represents a clash between logic and the bigger picture - our philosophy of life. Both will be tested for the next 2 years.

However, the most dramatic event will be the solar eclipse in Aries on March 29, 2025, which will be the last eclipse in this sign for many years. But more than bringing immediate decisions on matters, it will happen at the same time as Venus and Mercury retrograde first in Aries and then in Pisces, and with the North Node and Saturn nearly aligned.

This signals a particularly confusing time, with a lack of clarity and chaos. This period will last at least until April and may stretch into the second week of May. The last week of March until mid-April will be extremely challenging. World events are likely to be difficult.

Solar eclipses in Aries might symbolize the departure of important, leading figures or other major power shifts. This solar eclipse could also trigger events whose effects will last for years.

On a personal level, this may symbolize decisions for Aries and Libras that began a year and a half ago. The astrological sky in March and April will focus largely on Aries, but also on Pisces. It will affect especially those with many planets in these signs. This is an unusually chaotic time, and the real nature of events will not become clear until April or even the end of May.

Venus and Mercury Retrograde: Reversals and Communication Chaos

I already talked in my previous blog about Venus in Aries and its retrograde from Aries to Pisces between March 1 and April 13, 2025. Mercury will also retrograde from Aries to Pisces from March 15 to April 7, 2025. Of these two, Venus is the more challenging one. We are used to Mercury retrograde because it happens about three times a year. During Mercury retrograde, anything related to communication and technology tends to cause confusion. Traveling may be frustrating; schedules get mixed up, and trips are delayed or canceled.

Venus, on the other hand, doesn’t like being in Aries, because Venus wants to bring things together and be diplomatic. Mars, which rules Aries, wants to separate and individualize as a hero. Therefore, Venus in Aries is quite direct and combative. When Venus retrogrades in Aries, the goddess of love begins to behave rebelliously and, in a sense, pulls back her love temporarily. Venus symbolizes agreements, diplomacy, fairness, harmony, and women. Rebelliousness is not necessarily a bad thing, as it can sometimes be completely necessary. The danger, however, is that while retrograding, especially near eclipses, we may be so caught up in emotional upheaval that we make hasty decisions that we later regret. Reaching agreements will be especially difficult now, and diplomacy will be lacking.

However, the retrograde of Venus is always an important time for reflection and introspection. We reconsider the people, things, or places we truly love, or what (or who) we are passionate about, or if we still feel that way. It’s important to note that we might change our minds again and regret the decisions made during the retrograde once Venus turns direct again on April 13. This retrograde period has been noted in many cultures for thousands of years. Venus seems to be reborn during its retrograde. It’s worth noting that although relationships and diplomacy may be temporarily challenging, they will deepen in the long term. Carefully considered agreements during this time will last a long time.

At the end of March, Neptune will move into Aries (the day after the solar eclipse in Aries), on March 30, 2025, and stay there until 2039. More on this in my next blog.

Eclipses, Venus and Mercury Retrogrades, and Neptune Enters to Aries

Unfortunately, the eclipses, Venus and Mercury retrogrades, and Neptune’s shift into Aries will increase feelings of chaos. Everything is up in the air, communication is failing, there's no returning to the past anymore, and all logic seems to have disappeared. Understanding what is true and what isn’t will be difficult to determine. Things will settle down only in May.

March and April 2025 will be a challenging time for everyone. We are living through historic times. A person does not have to repeat their past, but astrology’s cyclical nature shows how difficult it is to avoid the repetition of the same themes, both personally and in world history. Now is the time to take good care of your mental health. If possible, it’s good to make bold changes now (if they are the result of months or years of contemplation), or to wait until May to make decisions.

Namaste,

Ursula Lunardakini
